Bipasha Basu, Abhay Deols Hollywood Debut 'Singularity' Faces Financial Trouble
Sunday, 5 February 2012
Bollywood stars, Bipasha Basu and Abhay Deol, who are all set to mark their Hollywood debut with Roland Joffé' s multinational film Singularity, may have to keep their dreams of global fame on hold for a while.
The $28 million project, which has been shot in India, Australia and the UK, is now facing financial crisis. Reportedly, the makers of the film owe over $15 million to the creditors including the Australian Tax Office. With such huge debts on their shoulders, it is unclear how the filmmakers will complete the epic film.
Bipasha and Abhay will share screen space with Hollywood stars Josh Hartnett and Neve Campbell, in the movie, which is set against the backdrop of the first Anglo-Maratha war across two time periods and continents. 'Singularity' is centered around four characters- a british officer in 18th century colonial India, the Indian woman he falls in love with, a present-day American marine biologist and his wife.
